Wendy used her birthday box of crayons for the first time. She alternated between chewing on them and drawing beautiful scribbles on the paper. It was so fun watching her discover and figure out how to use the crayons. Her first artwork was beautiful. She must have an artsy dad.

Flying from Seattle To Salt Lake City
Wendy was a good little passenger for our flight home to Utah. It was a fun visit to Washington, but we were all ready to get back to our routines at home.
Wendy loved looking at all the planes while we waited at the gate.
Wendy was really excited during take-off.
So long, green Washington. This beautiful sight will be missed.
Wendy made it through yet another flight and loved looking out the window as we landed. She was fascinated with all the trucks and trailers bustling around the tarmac.

Captain Little
Olympia has the cutest little children's toy/book/clothing/game store called Captain Little. I literally almost had a heart attack upon entering because everything was SO cute. Wendy had so much fun exploring all around. I restrained myself from spending frivolous amounts of money on things that were just begging me to purchase. I committed myself to being more creative and making lots of the cute things I saw myself. That's still a work in progress...
So many pretty books!
Just looking out the window for passers by to wave at.
They had the coolest astronaut helmet. We almost bought it for Wendy (not really).
Wendy and dad loved this little spinning board.
This hip wooden stroller, ah! If it hadn't been $150 I would have tried to fit it in my suitcase.
They had the cutest little bunny dolls, and there were little quilts and beds and food and kitchens to go along with them!
We need to get Wendy some classic blocks like these. There are way too many cute baby toys out there. And I think this toy store had all of them.

Family Reunion: Day One
The first day of our family reunion was quite the adventure. We had driven up the evening before on very short notice to stay in a hotel close to the ferry terminal so we could make our reservation to get on the 7:25 am boat to the island. It was a late night and early morning for everyone but we were so thankful to have made it on! We couldn't check into our rental house until the afternoon so we spent the morning exploring Orcas Island, playing on the beach, browsing their cute/hip bookstore and stuffing ourselves with a huge lunch.
Thanks to bath time's hit game "Duckie on Your Head", Wendy thinks it's so fun to try and put everything on her head.
The ferry ride was just as windy as it was beautiful.
The boys loved the fun shopping carts at island market.
Exploring the beach and walking along the sandbar to Indian Island.
Darvill'a bookstore is the cutest shop! There were way too many things I was tempted to buy.
Including this gorgeous children's book written and illustrated by Colin Meloy's (of the Decemberists) wife. She illustrated the Wildwood book series and does all the artwork for the Decemberists. Everything she creates is beautiful.
Wendy loved getting a close up look at the books but she loved waving to everyone pass by the front window more.
Wendy had the prime seat during our brunch at the Island Skillet. Her obsession with dogs continues, and she loved getting to sit right next to this cute pup.

In the midst of our getting ready to leave for a family reunion on Orcas Island fiasco, we had some fun at Fred Meyer. Presenting Hipster Wendy:

Visiting Madi at Zub's
We were in need of a quick meal this evening so I went around the corner to Zub's and guess who was there? Madison! I haven't gone to visit my little sister at her work nearly as much as I should so tonight was a perfect opportunity to stop in for a handcrafted sandwich made by Madison herself. She did a fine job with the sandwiches and the pretty labeling on our bag.

Backpacking Grove Creek
We took Wendy for an overnight backpacking trip up Grove Creek. I had Wendy and her gear in the Poco while Jeff carried the tent, sleeping bags, sleeping bags, food and cooking gear. We were both loaded down pretty heavy which made for a challenging hike up the 3.2 mile trail. We camped in a really beautiful meadow in the shadow of Mt. Timpanogos and hiked down in the morning under pouring rain. It was an adventure!
